To address an urgent need to improve the sealing reliability of substrate bags, components salvaged from used industrial machines were repurposed and custom-adapted.

When used equipment becomes an industrial solution

When manufacturers face a production issue, the first instinct is often to order new components or invest in new machinery. Yet, in many cases, there is another option: making smart use of existing resources.

That is exactly what happened during a recent project carried out with Eclo, a producer of mushroom substrate. Faced with unreliable bag sealing, the company needed a rapid solution to prevent contamination and production losses.

The answer did not come from a catalog of new equipment. Instead, part of the solution came from our inventory of components recovered from used industrial machines.

Industrial reuse in the service of performance

Every year, countless industrial machines are replaced, even though many of their components remain fully functional and perfectly usable.

At Kum Équipements, we recover, refurbish and give value to this equipment by providing it with a second life. As part of the Eclo project, several components and mechanical elements available in our stock were reused and adapted to create an additional sealing station designed to improve bag integrity.

This approach offers several key advantages:

  • Reduced procurement lead times
  • Reuse of fully functional industrial components
  • Lower costs compared to purchasing new equipment
  • Reduced industrial waste
  • Faster implementation of technical solutions

A stock that accelerates industrial projects

One of the main challenges in industrial projects is often the lead time required to obtain parts and components. Thanks to our activity, we maintain a large inventory of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components, as well as technical parts ready for reuse.

When Kum Technic launched the project, part of the required equipment was already available. As a result, while some components would normally have required several weeks of delivery time, the teams were able to start the mechanical adaptations and system integration immediately.

Giving equipment a second life to create new solutions

The project carried out for Eclo perfectly illustrates the philosophy of Kum Équipements: giving industrial equipment a second life while providing practical solutions to manufacturers.

Behind every used machine there is often much more than equipment waiting to be sold. It can be a valuable resource capable of solving a problem, reducing lead times or helping a project move forward faster.
